The most economical finish for metal deck is prime painted grey over bare steel. Typically, this finish provides adequate temporary protection to the base metal of the metal decking during construction.

    Steel Roof Decking Types

    Type A decking is 1-1/2” deep and 36” wide, which is also known as narrow rib decking. Use Type A deck for repairs and patches since more economical types of roof deck (Type B) are now available.

    Keystar also stocks F-deck, also known as intermediate rib decking. Type F deck is 1-1/2” deep and 36” wide. Use Type F deck for repairs and patches since more economical types of roof deck (Type B) are now available.

    B-deck has become the most popular decking for new roofs because of its strength/price ratio. Type B decking is also 1-1/2” deep and 36” wide. Strong, lightweight, and easy to install, use B roof decking mainly in short to medium span conditions ranging from 3 feet to 12 feet.

    N-deck provides a long span structural member. At 3” deep, N deck meets specifications for structures where the supporting members need to be placed far apart. This deep deck gives contractors the opportunity to increase the span while decreasing the gauge of the metal.
